“I am thinking first of all of what we can do ourselves. Through the program I am coordinating, initiated by Alexandru Dabija and energetically supported by Mrs. Dorina Lazăr, I intend to bring to the public’s attention the situation of dance in Romania, be it classical, contemporary or even traditional. These were entitled Extraordinary Dance Galas not for the sake of effect or out of vanity, but because they are not integrated in the (un)natural order of dance performances. Dance at the Odeon is a project in which we try not to discriminate. I also intend to invite everybody, dancers and choreographers alike from all generations, and with various styles. It is very important, especially now, at the beginning of a new century, when agglutinations are more manifest than ever, as well as syncretic tendencies toward mixed languages in art. They can be found in Western performances, and it is my firm belief that this syncretism of the arts is the defining characteristic of the post-modern era.”
