“In 2004 there was an impressive amount of literary productions by young authors. At the time I called them, too harshly, I’m afraid, ‘Catchers in the Cannabis’. It seems that the first person narrative is still in fashion. The language they use is violent, the action is set in underground, even sordid places… I was reassured in a way to find out that it’s not an exclusively Romanian reality… We live in a post-historical, post-religious era, a world without God, devoid of any metaphysical content. I have dared to call this kind of literature ‘the apocalyptic realism’, but I’d like to think that it is just one stage on the way back to normal literature.”
