Poem
by Elena Văcărescu (1866-1947)

“The blue bird, the blessed bird

Was making its nest in my heart.

Little by little were slain

Both my heart and the blue bird.

Who is the cruel hunter

Who did this to you, my heart?

Who put you in the tomb

With the blessed bird?”
