A Dove
by Elena Farago (1878-1954)

While flying way above, a dove has fallen on a rock

And he is just a chick, poor him, and he can barely fly!...

Big waves are coming, hit the rock and he is so afraid...

When drops of water splash his down, he’s getting soaking wet.

Sad as he is, he hides his head by moving up his wings,

But nobody can hear his tearful chirping wails!...

Another dove is coming, she’s flying very quickly –

His mother’s trying to find him, she’s crying for his absence.

She is near him right now and is gently picking him,

To soothe his crushing fears and to get him go to sleep.

And now they’ll fly together towards their homely nest,

Her warm embrace will follow, they’ll say good night and rest.
