There were once 19 men who set sail on a frail little ship to explore the South Pole. They were neither rich, nor famous, but they were aware of what they were going for, and knew what lay in store for them.Once arrived at the destination, they made mistakes and gave in to human weaknesses – but worked as well as they could, and did their best. Only 17 returned, telling themselves that the deaths of the two unfortunate companions and their own suffering may not have been in vain, for they had been able to add a pebble to the edifice of science, to the hub of light, truth and justice that guides humankind toward better times.
